Type 2 charger for EV

The Type 2 charger’s outlet is the one easily available at most of the charging stations. It is standard for European and Asian vehicles and used by every new electric car.  it’s a triple-phase plug and can charge at a level of up to 43 kW. The charger has both single phase (7.4 KW) & three-phase (22KW) variants. This charger provides power to the on-board charger of the vehicle, which converts the AC power to DC and charges the battery. This simple and smart AC charger is suitable to both residential and commercial areas.

The Type 2 car charging cable allows you to top-up at the slower ‘destination’ chargers you typically find in shopping centres, gyms and town car parks.

As Type 2 plugs are triple-phase plugs so with the help of three additional wires they let current run through. So naturally, they can charge your car faster. At home, the highest charging power rate is 22 kW, while public charging stations can have a charging power up to 43 kW, again depending on the charging power of your car and grid capability.
